This year’s Multinational Congress on Microscopy (MCM) was held between September 15-20 2019, in Belgrade. The number of Hungarian participants was not too many, though we couldn’t complain, as we had invited speakers and chairs, and we even got a plenary presentation.
András Kovács had a great lecture on his new achievements on magnetic nanostructures. His precisely structured and therefore very successful talk was well accepted by the audience.
As it is widely known, MCM conferences are focused on promoting new contacts between laboratories in participating countries that are interested in similar projects, and also promote the introduction of young researchers in an international forum.
This was especially successful in the case of Balázs Pósfai, this year’s winner of the Electron Microscope Foundation. The original invitation went to his supervisor,  Ádám Dénes /KOKI, Budapest/, however, his present duties made the trip impossible for him. Fortunately, the solution was at hand: he gave the presentation of the result of the whole group to Balázs, who anyway would have been gone to the conference only with a poster on a related topic.
The organizers agreed to the exchange, and Balázs presented his poster on Wednesday afternoon and gave his first 30-minute lecture at an international conference on Thursday morning .

Success could not have been more complete! He won the “Best Poster” award in the life science category with his work, and the lecture received audience recognition also indicated by the questions he got after it.

What could we say to that?

Congratulation!<
