Our talented and versatile colleague, Csaba Cserép, who was elected this year to the MMT Board, was also elected a member of the Young Academy of Europe (YAE).
Professional excellence and international recognition are requirements for YAE membership, but it is also important that the candidate has an independent research group or a successful grant application, and his/her scientific policy interests and activities are also examined. Two referees are of course also required. One of Csaba’s referees was Katalin Solymosi, YAE’s elected board member and vice-president for recruitment.
Kata is a long-standing and very active member of HMS, winner of its several photo competitions and prizes, and her students have also been conference speakers in the young researcher’s category for several years. As a young researcher with outstanding achievements and as an excellent microscopist, Csaba evoked general attention, so Kata decided to call his attention to this YAE membership. Besides, she was one of his referees and also helped him a lot during the membership recruitment process.
However, it will be up to Csaba to prove himself worthy of YAE membership with his keynote presentation in Barcelona in October at an international conference with YAE participation.
Knowing him, we need not worry about that.
And if you want to find out more about Csaba’s ambitions as a YAE member, read the interview with him published on the KOKI website on 28 September 2022.
