Hearty congratulations to the winners!

IN THE NATIONAL INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY OFFICE INNOVATION PRIZE 2023 was awarded to Femtonics Research and Development Ltd. for Femtonics FocusPinner – 3D real-time image stabilization.

Concise description of the innovation:
3D acousto-optical microscope technology has opened up radically new perspectives in brain research. Commonly used diagnostic methods such as computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) do not allow for cellular-level imaging. For functional, cellular (within-cell) imaging of brain function, the FEMTO3D Atlas currently offers the best solution. Femtonics Research and Development Ltd. is the first company in the world to commercialize image stabilization technology essential for basic neurobiological research experiments. In 2022, major institutions such as Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) Munich, Boston Children’s Hospital, America’s most innovative children’s hospital, MIT, and McGill University in Canada have chosen the FEMTO3D Atlas. In 2023, a renowned research group at Columbia University, a lab led by Prof. Dr. Attila Losonczy, purchased the Atlas with its third image stabilization development.

“IN THE NATIONAL AGENCY FOR RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT, AND INNOVATION’S 2023 INNOVATION PRIZE FROM BASIC RESEARCH TO MARKET to Technoorg Linda Scientific Technical Development Ltd. for the innovation CleanMill – Ion Beam Pattern Preparation System with Adaptation to a Protective Gas Working Environment.

Concise description of the innovation:
Since its establishment, Technoorg Linda Ltd. has been engaged in the development of ion beam sample preparation equipment, which is an indispensable complement to electron microscopy in many applications. Based on this experience, the CleanMill has been developed. The innovation of the CleanMill development allows the investigation of novel materials and stands out from other instruments on the market in terms of precision and reliability. The launch of the CleanMill ion beam sample preparation instrument in the summer of 2023 has led to a 114% increase in sales compared to the previous year, which was also a boom year. The new development alone has generated export revenues of €2,000,000, or nearly HUF 800,000,000, although sales only started in June. This represents 60% of the company’s turnover for 2023. In six months, 17 users in 7 countries on 3 continents have benefited from the equipment and its unique sample preparation capability.”
